The NSS Unit of Uluberia College started from the academic session 2008-2009. From its very conception this unit has been working for the social upliftment of the neighbouring area. The N.S.S organized a special camp from 25th March 2009 to 31st March 2009 at Kaijuri village located at the outskirts of Uluberia. The NSS volunteers undertook literacy campaign among pre-school children aged below five years, conducted household surveys cleaned playground and repaired village streets. The N.S.S mobilized support from the entire college community to raise relief for the victims of the tornado-hit natural calamity- ‘Aila’ for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and on 23rd July 2009 it handed over a Demand Draft of Rupees 1650.00 to the programme co-ordinator, N.S.S, Calcutta University.  UNICEF entrusted upon NSS Volunteers to administer pulse-polio immunisation campaign. The volunteers worked on the field in two rounds and their performance was expressly appreciated by the UNICEF. NSS volunteers organized extensive Community Outreach programmes in Sijberia, a slum adjacent to the College. They also have taken an active part in Thalassaemia Screening Test organized by IQAC of the College since 2013. The role of the NSS volunteers in creating ‘Clean and Green Campus is really appreciating. At present Sri Bidhan Chandra Sen of History department and Sri Biswajit Singh of Philosophy Department have jointly taken the charge of NSS.
